The Southern Highland Showdown
Brings a full day of Highland Games inspired competition, culture and entertainment to the expansive grounds in and around Ascot Park Hotel. This new Southland event blends centuries old Scottish tradition with local pride, offering an energetic, colourful and family friendly celebration for visitors of all ages.
Throughout the day, the hotel grounds come alive with Highland dancing, pipe band contests, and solo piping and drumming, creating a vibrant soundtrack of drums, chanters and swirling tartan. Strength and skill take centre stage with strongman demonstrations and wood chopping displays
The Kilted Mile and tug o war competitions are must-see events!
Visitors can explore Clans Alley, meet representatives from Scottish clans, and learn more about the heritage that shaped the Highlands.
A medieval Scottish battle enactment and archery displays add drama, offering a glimpse into the stories and traditions of the past.
Food and drink are an essential part of the experience, with whisky tasting sessions and a selection of Scottish fare alongside local favourites.
There’s plenty of have-a-go events whether its proving your mettle tossing a caber, testing your aim at archery, sword fighting or competing in the tug-o-war and kilted mile!
There will also be a bouncy castle for the kids!
